Happy Friday! Or Should I Say Good Friday!

I know, I know really lame title. But it is Good Friday, so it made me giggle! Ok, so had my second day of Couch 2 5k on Wednesday! I told Heather that she couldn't bail on me and made her go :) tehe. It was pretty good, we only had the one dog that day and so there wasn't a competition for them to be in front. So he was going pretty slow, we had to urge him to go faster! Poor guy drank a bowl of water and passed out when I dropped him off at home. No one told me that running, even the little that we are starting out with, would be addicting. It's weird, I will be on my "rest" days and be itching to go for a run! In the Couch 2 5K program they tell you to have your rest days in-between the walk/jog days. I'm guessing it is so you don't burn yourself out early on and give up. Makes sense, but ugh I was going nuts last night (Thursday). I ended up bringing my tread mill, which was in an upstairs bedroom, down the stairs to now reside in my main level living room. Did I mention that no one else was around when I did this? Yeah, I somehow managed to get it down the stairs by myself....shhh don't tell my soldier! Well by the time I got it all setup in the living room I was still itching to move, so I jumped on to do a slow 15 minute walk. Yeah right! That didn't last, I ended up trying to kill myself by bringing it to a sprinting speed then I would say "Ahhhhh" and quickly bring the speed back down and start walking again. I did this off and on for 35 minutes. What has happened to me? I used to appreciate rest days, heck everyday was a rest day! Anyway, I am about to head out to do Day 3 of the Couch 2 5K program (going to start calling it C25K from now on, because I'm lazy!), so catch up again later!

Almost Forgot...

I almost forgot to tell you that I went to Planet Fitness last night, the friend I went with has some arthritis so we weren't going to do too much. We ended up going on the bikes for about 10 minutes, then went on the ellipticals and I stayed on for 25 minutes, she had to stop since it was hurting though :( Then we did a couple random weight machines, like the adduction and abduction, etc. Then we did the 12 minute ab circuit. So much for yesterday being a rest day in-between the jog/walk days!! Oh well, I felt good doing it, I'm rather sore today, but not too terribly bad.

April 3rd Weigh In

Well I weighed in at Jenny yesterday and I gained 0.2 pounds, she asked me if I wanted to go potty quick then weigh again haha! I decided to just take the gain, like I said before I had started some weight training with my Kettle Ball and then on Monday I started the Couch 2 5K program with my friend Heather, which includes running/jogging, and they also said that you would most likely gain a little weight when you first start the program. I guess that's normal since when you use muscles that you don't really use when you sit on the couch all day, so when you use them they grow and muscle weighs more than fat! So I am hoping that my body will get used to using those muscles and get back on track to losing weight. Also, I plan to not have ANY cheat days this week, oh snap I forgot about Easter!!! Grrr I will eat my Jenny food and just eat the veggies and fruits. Hopefully there won't be anything too tasty to tempt me..yeah right! Did I mention that I have been using the Body Media Fit armband? It is pretty cool, it measures 5,000 data points per minute so it gives you an accurate measurement of how many calories you burn in a day, how many steps you take in a day, how much sleep you actually get in a night, etc. You wear it 24/7 except in the shower. But I really like it because it helps keep me motivated and on track. If I have a bad day where I don't burn my targeted amount of calories or take my targeted amount of steps, I get mad at myself and learn from it. Then the next day I knock it out of the ball park!

So with the Couch 2 5K program, it starts out with three times a week and I actually didn't mind it. Granted it was only Day 1, but it gradually increases so that you get used to it. Day 1 was 5 minute warm up walk, then 1 minute jog/run, 1:30 minute walk...you do the jog-walk trade off for 20 minutes, then end with a 5 minute cool down. I had to walk to Heather's house, so I had a little extra warm up of walking and then we kept walking even after the cool down, for a total time of 53 minutes!! I felt really good afterwords, a little sore in the legs, but not really bad at all. Then yesterday I wanted to go do it again, but you are supposed to have a rest day in-between your jogging/walk days. Unfortunately, Heather can't go with me today and I'm not sure how I feel about doing it by myself. I might look dumb, but who knows I might still do it. Well I will let you know how it goes tomorrow or something!

Just Weighed Myself...

Ugh, I just weighed myself and I went up...what the heck. Granted I normally weigh myself in the morning before I eat or drink anything and today I had eaten breakfast and drank water, but UGH! I had a feeling I would remain the same or go up this week, because I started doing more muscle building exercises with my new Kettle Ball instead of just walking. I also had a cheat day yesterday, I should have my cheat day right after my weigh in so it gives me time to get back now :) It wasn't a bad cheat day, I went to the in-laws and they were grilling chicken breasts and salmon. I had a small portion of each and lots of fruits and veggies, but then I took another small portion of chicken ooops. Did I mention, that I had a small chocolate ice cream cone from Dairy Queen on the way home? Yeah, I did that too...Well we will see what Jenny's scale says tomorrow morning! Wish me luck!

Weight Loss: The beginning

Fall of 2010, my husband came home from a year long deployment. We went out to eat every chance we got, because he hadn't had "good food", aka Taco Bell haha, only chow hall food or MRE's while deployed. In less than three months I had gained over 20 pounds and reached my top weight of 222.2 lbs. I was devastated, I could not believe that I had let my weight get out of hand. At work, we were doing a competition spin off of Biggest Loser and so I joined that and lost about 10 lbs in 3 or 4 months by walking around the office with a friend on every break. Also I wasn't really eating right, I skipped breakfast, had Ramen Noodles for lunch, went out to eat or shared a box of Hamburger Helper with my husband (half each). My husband has the metabolism of a God, he didn't gain any weight during any of this time. In about May, 2011, I made it into "one-derland" and by mid May I found out I was pregnant and was instructed to eat better, as in actual meals and gained the last 7-10 pounds back by the time (end of June) I miscarried. I have been stuck at that weight ever since. I decided enough was enough and while my husband is in training, I joined Jenny Craig. I joined on March 13th (day after my birthday, happy birthday to me!!) and started eating Jenny food on the 14th. My starting weight on the 13th was 206.8. After my first week with Jenny, I lost 1.7 lbs, bringing me to 205.1 on March 20th. My second week, I lost another 1.9 lbs, bringing me to 203.2 on March 27th! Wish me luck for my weigh in on Tuesday! I hope you find motivation in my story. Also know that I am being completely honest and need everyone and anyone to hold me accountable for my slip ups as well as accomplishments along the way!!
